August 2006 7M Transport is
named one of the fasted growing Women Owned Minority Business in Houston,
Texas.
July 1, 2006 we moved to our
new expanded Operational Headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. We
moved about one mile from our previous facility.
June 2006 Howard Leff is
written up in the Portal magazine titled "A PRINCE IS BORN" The
article takes you on one of the many adventures of Howard's career. It talks
about how he became a Nigerian Prince.
The April 12-18, 2004 "Journal of
Commerce" weekly magazine has an editorial reply from our
President and CEO, Howard Leff. Joe Bonney wrote
a nice piece about older logisticians finding it difficult to be
gainfully employed. Howard took exception in a tongue and cheek
manner as follows:
"EXPERIENCE COUNTS---OR AT
LEAST IT SHOULD"
"Joe Bonney's March 22-28 column (on the
bleak job market for older logistics professionals) made me gasp, laugh
and get teary-eyed. As someone who has been in this business since
January 1959, I do feel ancient. But I am not ready for the "farm."
I gasped because the majority of what you've
stated is unfortunately true. This is an age where experience does not
count as much as lower salaries. I laughed when I read that "past 50"
is considered a detriment instead of an asset. And lastly a little tear
for a nostalgic thought about my many many friends who did retire and
then expired.
If, or perhaps more correctly, when the U.S.
government raises the retirement age, what can the veterans of an
industry that they have contributed to expect? There is still something
to be said about elderly wisdom, personal integrity and folks who have
actually seen the inside of a vessel, been on a pier in some frigid part
of the world, sat on a jump seat of a cargo aircraft or remember the
"huge Lance-class vessels" of U.S. Lines!"
Your comments would be welcomed.

The
US Customs and Border Patrol has been
instructed by the office of Homeland Security to obtain a passport number
or social security number for the exporter of record on all household
goods and personal effects shipments, or an EIN number for commercial
shipments. The exporter of record would be the person's name and or
names that will be on all of the shipping documents. We will also require
the owner of the goods current or former address in the USA. 7M (and
all other ocean transportation indermediaries) are required to enter this
information into the Automated Export System (AES) in order to obtain a
release to ship the goods overseas. We are required to enter the
information into AES a minimum of 48 hours before the vessel is loaded.
7M would like to request that you provide us with this information ASAP to
eliminate any possible delay or mising a sailing. If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact your 7M representative.

On November 4th, 2004, 7M

We are proud to announce that 7M Transport, Inc., is among the first
twenty companies to be compliant with the new rule. The required
information is transmitted to U.S. Customs in their AMS,
"Automated Manifest System". Our agent partners around the world are
able to feed us the information required and we in turn edit and
transmit to the intended port of arrival. The local District
Director and staff then decide what cargo can be loaded and what
containers should be inspected.
We strongly suggest that if an inspection is required that you have
someone from your office, agent or a qualified individual, be
present for the inspection and subsequent re-stowing of the
container. For more information, please call Howard Leff at 281 370
6577.
